Enjoy a 10 week virtual Treehouse Shakers' After-School program with renowned playwright and writer, Brian Hampton, for ages 10-14. Brian uses a dynamic, fun, and interactive approach that supports young writers while they create original writing. Writers at all levels enjoy success.This program is going to cover creative writing forms that are ENTERTAINMENT DRIVEN: Such as creating a concept for a TV show, creating a group of superheroes, writing jokes, writing a funny or angry monologue, comic strip writing, playwriting, murder mystery concept writing, science fiction/fantasy writing, screenwriting, writing stories with a twist, spontaneous freewriting games... ALL KINDS OF FUN STUFF! At the end of the program students will have a keepsake book of writing.
Times 4:45-5:45 (EST.)
Dates Will Begin Thursday, February 4, 2021 for 10 Class Sessions
About Brian Hampton
Brian started writing plays in middle school and has continued to write and teach playwriting at universities, high schools, middle schools, and performing arts camps across the country -- including Northern Stage Company’s young playwrights program, Project Playwright. His plays include: Gossip (which has been produced worldwide), USERNAME (which was published this year), and The Jungle Fun Room (which was produced Off-Broadway, in the New York International Fringe Festival, and regionally). Brian is passionate about theatre and helping writers find their voice, express their unique stories, and reveal new perspectives. Brian is also an actor (Stage: The Jungle Fun Room, Checking In, Meeting Matt Damon, Big River. TV: American Housewife, Coop & Cami Ask the World, I Feel Bad, Schooled), and he loves to use that experience to help writers create that perfect actor-friendly dialogue. Brian received his BA in Theatre from Christopher Newport University, his MFA in Playwriting from Spalding University, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Actors Equity Association, and SAG-AFTRA.
