Item Description
These Nordic Crisps are a healthy snack choice made with organic ingredients. They are packed with flax, sunflower, pumpkin sesame and chia seeds. They are delicious snacking on its own but also with cheese, hummus, soups and salads. Hungry Bird Eats was founded by Tina, a Danish mom, who began her quest for creating a better snack after learning that her 1-year old son Ike was allergic to nuts and soy. Finding that most snack foods on the market were heavily processed and contained these allergens, she pushed to make her own. Inspired by the traditional Knækbrød (rye crispbread) of her native Denmark. The company started in Brooklyn in 2017 but in the fall of 2018 the production was forced to halt, when the Brooklyn food startup incubator and commercial kitchen PilotWorks unexpectedly shutdown due to lack of funding, leaving 175 food startup companies stranded without a workspace for production. Tragically, many of these companies suffered huge losses or closed down entirely. Despite the challenge, Tina was determined to overcome this obstacle and used the time to reflect on the business and the approach to restarting it. She located a great spot to set up her own commercial kitchen, not far from her new home in New Jersey, nestled in a large historic building with a creative community of talented artists and makers of all types. Hungry Bird Eats commenced production again in January 2020, ready to continue its mission of introducing its tasty hand-made real-food Nordic Crisps to the world! You can now find Hungry Bird Eats in specialty stores throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan and the products just launched in the new Wholefoods store on Hudson Yards.
