Armissan is a wine growing village 15 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea, about an hour from Montpellier, 30 minutes from the medieval city of Carcassonne and less than three hours from Barcelona, Spain. The near-by city of Narbonne is on the Canal de la Robine and has regular train service to Paris, Avignon, Barcelona and other cities throughout the region.
Your residence was an old stone barn. The ground level is a large garage with plenty of indoor parking. The upstairs living quarters offer a spacious great room with a huge fireplace and a dining area, four bedrooms (one completely recreated with a new in-suite bathroom and French doors to the large terrace and two of which are lofts, one which opens to the private upper terrace), a full bath plus a separate water closet and a new tiled shower/sink, and a laundry room with washer/dryer/ironing board on the mezzanine level. A completely new, modern kitchen was installed in the fall of 2015. Two terraces overlook the vineyards and foothills in the distance. (There is no phone but there is wi-fi access throughout the house as well as good cell phone coverage.)
The house is a few steps away from the town center of Armissan with its ancient church. The butcher and the baker are just out the front gate. Narbonne is 15 minutes away with an historic Gothic cathedral, a Roman road, excellent shops and one of the best markets in France (open every day of the year from 7 until just after noon) featuring fresh seafood, meats, cheese and produce. There are many fine restaurants in Narbonne and within easy driving distance from Armissan.
Accommodations consist of four French (that is, small double beds), one each in the bedroom by the main bath, the new master bedroom suite off the main terrace and in the loft bedrooms one of which also has two twin beds. The house is not handicapped accessible because of stairs to the living quarters and stairs to the sleeping lofts.
Item Special Note
Mutually agreeable dates. Must be used by 3/1/2022. House is not handicapped accessible.
