Item Description

This is a collection of three presidential bookmarks from the White House Historical Society. All bookmarks are solid brass, electro-plated with non-tarnishing silver finish, giclee print.

Bookmark 1 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt Bookmark - President Franklin D. Roosevelt took office for his first term as president in 1933 and served until 1945; from the depth of the Great Depression into World War II. Elected to four terms, Roosevelt enacted New Deal programs to provide domestic relief and initiated talks leading to the formation of the United Nations. Inspired by portraits and images of Roosevelt in the White House Collection, this bookmark features the president sitting with his beloved Scottish terrier, Fala. This bookmark is 2.75" x 2.75".

Bookmark 2 - President Jackson Equestrian Statue Bookmark - Across from the White House in Lafayette Park stands a bronze statue of a man riding a horse. The man is Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States, in the midst of fighting the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. Created by Clark Mills, it was the first statue of a person on horseback ever cast in the United States. The statue has stood in Lafayette Square since 1853. This bookmark is 1.5" x 3"

Bookmark 3 - President Theodore Roosevelt Bookmark - President Theodore Roosevelt took office in 1901 following the assassination of President William McKinley. It was during his administration that the West Wing was built. The addition provided Roosevelt and his staff an area for workspace separate from the first family's living quarters. The portrait of President Roosevelt that inspired this bookmark hangs in the East Room on the State Floor of the White House. This bookmark is 1" x 3.75".
