Item Description
A one-of-a-kind embroidery sampler designed and stitched by Jane Frogley.
The sampler is centered on a depiction of First Church in Windsor. Surrounding elements are adapted from Margaret Gibson, a Scottish sampler from 1839. The strawberry border is adapted from Grace Catlin, an English sampler of 1719. Stitches used are cross stitch, petit point, running stitch, satin stitch, trellis stitch, rice stitch, and queen stitch. The piece is worked on 28-count linen.
The sampler has been professionally framed, with a decorative filet added to the inside of the frame. The overall size is 17x20 inches; the image is 12x15 inches.
