Since 1858, the Fontanafredda Estate & Winery has been instrumental to the growth and international awareness of Barolo, while championing sustainability and community engagement in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Under the lead of visionary entrepreneur, Oscar Farinetti, Fontanafredda has built a portfolio of wines that express the depth and diversity of the Langhe, produced from grapes that are farmed from
organic and sustainably managed vineyards. Since the 2018 harvest, Fontanafredda is the largest certified organic winery in Piedmont. - APPELLATION
Barbera d’Alba DOC, Italy - VARIETAL COMPOSITION
100% Barbera - TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES
The 250-acre Fontanafredda property in Serralunga d’Alba, a
cru site of Barolo, is the single largest contiguous wine estate in the Langhe and includes 247 acres of vineyards, 30 acres of woodland and 10 acres on which the cellars and village buildings lie. Owned vineyards are in the municipalities of Serralunga d’Alba, Diano d’Alba, Barolo, Dogliani, Farigliano, Alba, Rodello, and Murinsengo, at altitudes between 200 - 400m. Grapes are harvested from clayey-marl mixed soils mixed with calcareous marl and picked mid-September. - WINEMAKING & AGEING
Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place immediately after for 7-8 days at 82-86°F. The wine is aged in casks for about 6 months, follwed by 2 months of bottle aging. - TASTING NOTES
Characteristic aromas of Barbera, with a flowery and fruity bouquet. A full, persistent taste which is nicely dry and velvety. Drink young, or one-two years after harvest. Excellent wine to drink thoughout the meal, it can pair with a variety of flavors and dishes.

100% Cortese - TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES
The 250-acre Fontanafredda property in Serralunga d’Alba, a cru site of Barolo, is the single largest contiguous wine estate in the Langhe and includes 247 acres of vineyards, 30 acres of woodland and 10 acres on which the cellars and village buildings lie. Owned vineyards are in the municipalities of Serralunga d’Alba, Diano d’Alba, Barolo, Dogliani, Farigliano, Alba, Rodello, and Murinsengo, at altitudes between 200 - 400m. Grapes are sourced from sandy-soiled vineyards with a high content of arenaceous marl, planted at 200-300 asl. Vineyards are South-East and South-West facing, and plantes at 4,400 vines per ha. - WINEMAKING & AGEING
Grapes undergo soft pressing and the clear must begins fermentation at a low temperature of 64° F. 85% is fermented in stainless steel, the rest in barriques. The wine is aged in stainless steel for 2-3 months, then cold stabilized and bottled. - TASTING NOTES
Ample nose, with an intense bouquet featuring floral notes, vanilla, lemon and apples. On the palate, dry, full-bodied, well-balanced and elegant. Excellent as an aperitif, and delicious with horsd’oeuvres, shellfish, and chicken dishes.

Serralunga d’Alba DOCG, Italy - VARIETAL COMPOSITION
100% Nebbiolo - TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES
The 250-acre Fontanafredda property in Serralunga d’Alba, a
cru site of Barolo, is the single largest contiguous wine estate in the Langhe and includes 247 acres of vineyards, 30 acres of woodland and 10 acres on which the cellars and village buildings lie. Owned vineyards are in the municipalities of Serralunga d’Alba, Diano d’Alba, Barolo, Dogliani, Farigliano, Alba, Rodello, and Murinsengo, at altitudes between 200 - 400m. The commune of Serralunga d’Alba is known for power. Wines from here have excellent structure and refinement. Serralunga is considered a “supporting” commune, as grapes from these vineyards tend to be more rigorous, with the ability to withstand adverse weather conditions. When Barolo was mainly a blended wine from across the appellation, grapes from Serralunga were sought after to add structure. Soils consist of a high content of limestone and grey marl, alternating with sand. Vineyards are South and South-West facing at 300-400m asl, planted at a density of 4,400 vines/ha. - WINEMAKING & AGEING
15-day fermentation in stainless steel vats at 86-88° F. Maceration for an additional 15 days for optimal phenolic extraction. This wine is aged one year in barrique (Allier) and two years in 2,000L oak casks, followed by additional bottle aging for about 12 months. - TASTING NOTES
Serralunga Barolo is characterized by great structure and power. Dry and tannic, but with velvety texture and great balance. It has notes of vanilla, spices, withered roses and underbrush. balance.
