Item Description
The difference between photographing what you see and what you feel is the difference between being a shutterbug and being an artist.
After several years with a nice camera many people have expressed to me the common frustration that the images they create are not getting better. They sense something is missing in their images but they cannot identify the problem.
Their images demonstrate their personal style and unique vision has not been developed.
Past students have said before taking my class they were simply recording what they saw. After my class they were creating images inline with what they felt, the first step in turning yourself into an artist. The second step is knowing how to create images meant to make the viewer feel what you intend them to feel.
This short class will focus on the first step:
Learning about the fundamentals: seeing light, crafting your compositions and controlling the story expressed in the image.
The second step requires practice.
Similar to learning how to play an instrument, the ability to create artful images requires practicing organized exercises or drills.
The journey toward becoming an artist.
The series consists of 4 live online screen sharing classes.
And one, in-person, in-studio B&W portrait session.
We begin with a few easy exercises designed to be completed at home and shared on a restricted Group FB page for comparison and constructive comments.
The class will end with the preparation of one image we hope you will have printed as a 20x30 wall display.
Only you can transform yourself into an artist, this class will not do that. Hopefully, my class will get you started on your own journey down that yellow brick road.
Item Special Note
A camera is required. But need not be expensive or fancy. Access to PhotoShop is advisable. We have a special arrangement with a national color lab should you wish to have an image printed for a 20x30 wall display.
