Item Description

Limoges is not one maker of porcelain, but a group of manufacturers active in the French city of Limoges.  This serving dish was made bewteen 1891 and 1914 by the A. Lanternier company.  Handpainted wtih a pink floral design, the dish has intricate scalloped edges.  Originally these edges were richly gilded.  Today only a hint of the gilding survives.  Except for a few chips at the base, the condition of the dish is otherwise very good and suitable for table use.

The dish is 12" L x 8" W x 2" Deep.  There are two makers marks:  One is green colored reading Limoges A. L. with anchor symbol, and France. The other is brown reading Limoges A. Lanternier France.
