Item Description

This was one of our more controversial posters. On the poster, we paired women's rights activist, Lucy Stone, with a woman who spoke out against sexual harassment, Anita Hill.

This poster became available after the book that was written by two reporters from the Wall Street Journal that testified to the fact that Anita Hill was telling the truth was published. Still, Molly received several phone calls from male teachers who were so offended that we had somehow sullied the good name of Lucy Stone. When asked if they had read the well-researched book that recognized that Anita Hill was telling the truth.  They said no and they were not going to read it.

We sold about 15,000 copies of this poster.

Promises to Keep -March 1995 National Women's History Month

This commemorative poster features sixteen women from a wide range of fields.  This theme reminds us that we, too, have PROMISES TO KEEP. These promises are rooted in a rich and varied history of accomplishments and perseverance by legions of women. We have promises to keep to these women, and to ourselves, and to future generations.

For generations, uncounted women have worked and are continuing to work to fulfill the promises of their foremothers -- many doing so by first and foremost seeking the truth.

To illustrate this theme we chose eight women from the 19th Century and matched them with a woman in the same field or of having made a comparable accomplishment.
