We Were There: World War II Stories from the Adirondacks' Greatest Generation by Daniel Way

Harcover-2016

After years of effort and travelling halfway around the world, the third and final book in my series "Scenes and Stories from an Adirondack Medical Practice" is in print! This is my masterpiece, containing 16 stories about 18 participants in WWII, including Germans, Brits, Americans; civilians, marines, army, navy, air corps; men and women. There are over 220 photographs and 70,000 words in 160 pages describing events before, during and after the war from members of the Greatest Generation I have met, interviewed and photographed. Some of the greatest battles in modern history are recounted, including The Battle of Britain, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Kwajalein, the Philippines, Saipan, Leyte Gulf, Normandy, submarine warfare, Tinian, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, the air war over Europe, and others. Vivid descriptions of living during the Great Depression, Pre-war England, Germany during the Allied bombardment, the creation of the GI Bill, and post-war occupation of Japan are included.
