François Morissette doesn’t make wine for Ontario. He makes wine for the world, especially for those who appreciate his approach of minimal-intervention, purity, and low sulphur.

He is classically trained, having worked on the Grand Cru terroirs of Frédéric Mugnier of Chambolle Musigny, Christian Gouges of Domaine Henri Gouges, and Jean-Marc of Domaine Roulot. Further oenological training was also undertaken at L’Université de Dijon.

He attempts to uncover the inherent nature of each and every vintage. The result of this focused dedication is a selection of wines that speak for themselves. At Pearl Morissette, no two wines are ever the same.

3 Bottles of 2017 CUVéE BLACK BALL RIESLING

The first Black Ball Riesling to be released in a number of years. The wine is fully-dry in a classically 'atypical' Pearl Morissette style and has been fermented and aged in a combination of concrete and foudres. A wine of suave structure and tautness, with vibrant fruit and rich, layered mouthfeel. Salinity, spice and luminous summer fruit weave through the palate in unison and glide into a finish of smoothness, purity and resonating power.

3 Bottles of 2019 FURIE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Brio and eagerness is the name of the game in a bottle that carries the hallmark flavours of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, but none of the usual square-shouldered attitude. Assertive, energetic and unstoppable in character, yet cheerful and cheeky, this is a Cab Sauvignon in a style that we'll venture to guess you have most likely not encountered before. It flouts all sorts of norms, but does it with the irresistible elan of a true disruptor - and with the feisty self-assuredness that comes with the knowledge that being different is no obstacle to being delicious. If anything, it's an invitation to a world of new pleasures.
