Item Description

One two-part Otomi Embroidery Lesson with SBS Handwork Teacher Ms. Giusti! Taught Virtually FOR TEENS in Grades 6-12.

Otomi embroidery is a Mexican embroidery style using vibrant colors and mythical floral and animal designs.

During the class, Maria will explore the origins of Otomi and discuss cultural appropriation and how we can honor this tradition while experiencing it for ourselves. She will guide each strudent to draw a design and, using a needle and thread, bring it to life.

The two 1-hour-long Zoom classes will be held weekdays, this summer (2021), between July and August. Dates and times to be determined after the auction closes.

You will be emailed a list of supplies (with links) to purchase your own materials before the class begins.

The first class will be an introduction, with enough instruction to leave you with a design, and how to embroider Otomi. The second class will include sharing your project and/or any additional support to finish your piece. Maria will also include how-to videos, available for your convenience and support. 

Item Special Note

Winning bidders located in Northern California may pick up their items in Napa at a location and date to be arranged -- details will be emailed to winning bidders. Items not picked up by March 5, 2021, will be mailed to the winning bidder, and purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. (Note that we will automatically mail gift cards and gift certificates for free -- no need to pick those up.)

Items purchased by bidders residing outside of Northern California will be shipped on or around Tuesday, February 9, 2021, unless you tell us that you wish to pick up your item. Purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. (Gift cards and gift certificates ship for free.) Please contact us at sbspcauction@gmail.com by February 8, 2021, if you plan to pick up your auction winnings.
