Beginning Sourdough Bread Class with SBS Parent Alum Julia Allen -- Sourdough Starter Included!

"Spend" a weekend with up to four of your friends and learn to bake bread together! This class includes everything you need (including sourdough starter) for four (4) participants to learn to bake two loaves. Bake your first real sourdough bread with coaching from an expert sourdough bread baker!

Activities will take place over 3 days (Friday eve, Saturday throughout the day, but broken up in staggered times), and Sunday morning for baking, 40 minutes.

Winners will be provided with a list of supplies that will be required to prep/bake sourdough. A week before the class, Julia will also supply the sourdough starter, with instructions for class prep for the 3-day teaching event. 

On Friday eve, there will be a short Zoom meeting to instruct on getting the starter ready for the next day.

Saturday morning will begin with Julia holding an hour-long Zoom class with the participants, where she will demonstrate how to get the ingredients mixed and will watch others do the same or be available for questions. There will be six or seven check-ins throughout the day that will take about 20 to 30 min. each, where she will demonstrate stretch and folds, preshape and final shape, before putting dough into the refrigerator, so it's best to be available for the day.

On Sunday morning, Julia will do a demo on scoring the dough and the process of baking.

She will also be available to answer questions via text that weekend.

On Sunday you will end up with two loaves of homemade bread!

Julia will provide:

• List of equipment needed
• List of ingredients needed
• Sourdough starter (one week before the class)
• Step-by-step instructions, schedule

Participants should be located in the Napa area (for starter delivery) and have:

• Updated Zoom
• Acquired equipment and ingredients Julia specified
• Basic knowledge of baking

This class will take place over one weekend. Julia is available either March 12-14, 2021, or April 9-11, 2021. Winning bidder will finalize the weekend with Julia.

Item Special Note

Local delivery or pickup only in Napa, CA. Winning bidders may pick up their items in Napa at a location and date to be arranged -- details will be emailed to winning bidders. Items not picked up by March 5, 2021 will be mailed to the winning bidder, and purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. (Note that we will automatically mail gift cards and gift certificates for free -- no need to pick those up.) Stone Bridge School and SBS Parent Council are not responsible for items lost or damaged during shipping.
