Item Description
The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon found in North America, measuring less thean a foot from crown to tail tip. But don't let the small size fool you, they are fierce and fast hunters! Able to see in the ultraviolet range, kestrels often hunt mice, tracking them by their urine trails. But birds are also on the menu, and the swift and agile kestrel can bring down prey larger than themselves, such as doves.
They are tolerant of humans and often seen in our communities. This photograph features a male, identified by the striped tail with the black and white outer feathers. Look at that gorgeous wingspan!
Susan J. Baptista is an avid landscape and nature photographer, with a passion for photographing raptors. She has intense knowledge of raptor behavior which allows her to capture them through the lense in their natural surroundings for others to enjoy.
8x10 photograph. Final framed size is 17" x 14" Ready to hang on wall.
