Item Description
A five-year vertical of the best wines from CASS, three-time winner of "winery of the year" at the Central Coast Wine Competition. CASS Reserve contains a unique mix of Rhone and Bordeaux varietals, which create a delicious multi-layered facet to the predominantly Cabernet wines. This lot includes one bottle each of CASS Reserve from 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. Each blend is different, depending on the year's harvest. The 2014 offering, for example, comprises 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Syrah, 9% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot, and 2% Mourvèdre - and was rated 92 points by Vinous. "Opens with beautifully lifted aromatics of fresh spearmint, black cherry compote, sugar plum and hints of chocolate hazelnut crunch. A round, supple entry leads to a silky smooth mid-palate. Crème de cassis, blueberry reduction, cedar cigar box and toasted oak complement the baked black and ripe red fruit essence. Fine grained, age-worthy tannin provides structure to the persistent, juicy finish. Enjoy now until 2026." CASS's 160 acre vineyard and winery are located in southeast Paso Robles. The area has warm days, cool coastal breezes, and exceptional soils. Deposited over centuries, these gravelly alluvial soils with moderate depth, older granites, as well as scattered calcareous deposits, make for an expressive site that produces fruit of incredible quality.
