Item Description

The Avalon Hotel rests quietly on Catalina Island which is approximately twenty-two nautical miles off of the Southern California coast of Long Beach. The island can be easily accessed by a relaxing hour-long passenger ferry ride on the Catalina Express. There are two ports on the island with transportation on the mainland being available from several Southern California ports. The Whittley Avenue address is within walking distance to most of the attractions, restaurants, and tour bases in the City of Avalon.

Each guest room offers handmade natural soaps and fully-lined bathrobes. This stay will include a booking in one of our balcony rooms, which has a partial ocean-view from outside on the balcony. All guest rooms include comfortable memory-foam beds by supple-pedic, premium linens, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, a desk, a microwave and refrigerator, and private bathroom. Continental breakfast is served in our garden and is brought inside on rainy days. Our roof-deck provides a special 360 degree view of town and the harbor with an amazing ocean view.

Our Catalina Island boutique hotel offers guests a rooftop patio which yields panoramic views of Avalon and the harbor making it the perfect setting to start your day with a cup of coffee or to share a romantic nightcap underneath a starry sky. In our guest rooms, we treat our guests to in-room coffee, personal climate control, microwaves and refrigerators. The beds are a comfortable memory-foam by supple-pedic, the linens in use are a soft micro-fiber. The building is built in a craftsman style with modern amenities. Continental breakfast is served daily in our garden patio and is complete with comfortable seating, a fire pit, and its focal point, an eye-catching fountain with friendly Koi.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY
The popular resort town of Avalon offers a casual nightlife as well as several guided tours by air or land. There are also several available ocean expeditions like the Undersea Expedition, Glass Bottom Boat and the Ocean Runner Dolphin Tour. Many attractions are near our hotel that visitors can enjoy like The Catalina Island Casino Building which is an iconic landmark not associated with gambling. For guests who want to hit the green, an afternoon at the Catalina Island Golf Course is recommended. For nearby guided tours on land, many guests enjoy Avalon Scenic Tours or a self guided tour by an hourly rented golf cart. A visit to the Catalina Island Conservancy is ideal for those that want to learn more about the plant and animal life on the island or take their Jeep Tour. Guests who want to explore the Island's history may enjoy the Catalina Island Museum. Several guided land tours are also available that cover Cape Canyon, and the East End of Catalina. Zip Lines offer breathtaking views of Catalina, and Vessel Charter Tours offer several popular modes to explore the island.

Visitors have a range of transportation options for getting from the mainland to Catalina Island, including ferries, helicopter, private boats and private airplanes. Helicopters and ferries depart from several ports in Southern California.

Catalina Island Ports:
Catalina Island is home to two ports, one in the popular resort town of Avalon, and one in the rural community of Two Harbors. (The Avalon Hotel is in Avalon)

Most visitors arrive on this Southern California island in Avalon, where they will find small beaches, restaurants, hotels, seasonal boat rentals, and many more businesses catering to tourists. Two Harbors is a tiny resort village offering just one hotel, one restaurant and a general store.

How to get to Catalina:
Visitors have a range of transportation options for getting from the mainland to Catalina Island, including ferries, helicopter, private boats and private airplanes. Helicopters and ferries depart from several ports in Southern California.

Catalina Express: This Catalina Island ferry offers year -round passenger service to Catalina with up to 30 daily departures from ports in Long Beach, San Pedro and Dana Point. Long Beach has the most departure times to choose from year-round.
