Item Description
Artist: Kim McNeil
Size: 16" x 16"
Medium: Cold Wax & Oil on Wood
Research Project: Brain Stimulation to Turn Down the Tics
Scientist: Cynthia Kahl
"When I met with neuroscientist, Cynthia Kahl, to learn about her research, it quickly became clear to me that a piece inspired by her work should speak to the hope it offers children. What Tourette syndrome takes away, Ms. Kahl's study aims to give back; calm, acceptance, and freedom. 'Tic Tac Toe' is as much a play on words that speaks to the characteristic tics most people associate with Tourette syndrome, as it is an homage to the playfulness of childhood. What better gift could neuroscience give than the chance to be a kid again?"
