Boisterous yet elegant on entry, the wine shows its plush layers with distinctive strawberry preserves, blackberry and raspberry pie topped with fresh crème. Round, ripe tannins close the palate menacingly, leaving one with a thirst for more.

(1) Cakebread Cellars 2018 Napa Valley Chardonnay, $40

A versatile food-pairing wine, it opens with aromas of ripe golden apples, white peach and notes of oak. On the palate, apple and pear characteristics are balanced by fruity acidity with a clean finish.

Cedarman is a proprietary blend of fruit from Rattlesnake Ridge and Dragon Vineyards, located at the top of Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Although primarily zinfandel, a small amount of Petite Syrah from Rattlesnake vineyard is used as well. The result is a truly powerful, dense and wild wine, long on flavor.

Apple, pear and crème brulee on the nose. The palate offers richness, balanced by bright acidity.

(1) Sonoma-Cutrer 2017 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, $35

Dark ruby red and richly textured. Flavors of black cherry, tobacco and sweet barrel spice shine throughout. Fine tannins round out the long, smooth finish.

A boisterous wine with an assertive profile, offering ripe notes of black currant, plum, crushed fennel and cedar. Rich and rustic, finishes memorably with structures, lingering tannins.

Black currant, clove, walnut and dried lavender on the nose. Medium to full bodied with firm, fine grained tannins. Structured and precise with dark berries and cocoa to finish.

(1) Blindfold 2018 White Blend, $30

Bold, intriguing and complex with inviting aromas of honeysuckle, grilled white peach and apricot. A luscious entry of toasted hazelnut and mandarin are balanced by bright acidity and minerality. The finish is rich and creamy with flavors of lemon zest and caramelized sugar.

A rich and complex array of concentrated black and red berries, dusty earth and a hint of fresh herbs, rounded by a sweet underpinning of mocha-tinged toasty oak.

Opens with aromas of raspberry, blueberry, and crushed violets. Flavors of spiced dried cherries, florals and a hint of white pepper translate to a balanced red blend.
