Wine Advocate 91+:

Deep garnet-purple in color, 2015 Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon is redolent of crème de cassis' licorice and dark chocolate with hints of dried mint' earth and tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with generous black fruit and menthol flavors. Structured with a firm backbone, it finishes with great length. Drink 2017-2030.

Clement Saint Jean Medoc 2009, Bordeaux, France

CellarTracker 89:

60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Clarion call of fine dark fruit on the nose. Dry and elegant on the palate. Not as plush as some but shows finesse already with a savoury tannic aftertaste that bodes well for the longer term. Drink 2015-2022.  Julia Harding

Rockledge Vineyards The Rocks 2013, Napa, California, USA

Wine Access:

Opaque purple. Luscious and sweet nose of black currant, blackberry, licorice, and graphite, lightly touched with new-wood cedar. Massively concentrated, soft and supple on the attack, the core is packed with black-fruit preserves, silken in texture, still perfectly buttressed by the sneaky, dusty tannins.

Rocca di Frassinello Ornello 2013, Maremma, Italy

Vinous 93:

The 2013 Ornello is terrific. A blend of Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, the Ornello offers striking depth and translucence in a mid-weight style loaded with complexity. Sweet red cherries, tobacco, mint, new leather and blood orange add shades of nuance as the 2013 develops with air. Constantly changing in the glass, the 2013 Ornello is deeply impressive. In particular, the Sangiovese seems to really perk up the flavors here. Ornello remains the hidden jewel in the estate's lineup. Drink 2016-2025.

Clos D'Argentine Winemakers Malbec Reserva 2013, Mendoza, Argentina

Wine Enthusiast 93:

Smoky, charred aromas of blackberry and blackened spices set up a bold palate with energy to spare. Blackberry and cassis flavors are rich, toasty and chocolaty, while the finish on this full-bodied, ripe Malbec is lengthy and moderately complex.

Descendientes De Jose Palacios Petalos del Bierzo 2011, Bierzo, Spain

Vinous 90:

Deep ruby. Smoky cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by suave floral and dark chocolate nuances. Blackberry and bitter cherry flavors become sweeter with air, picking up a peppery note that adds vibrancy. Closes spicy and long, with sneaky tannins and an echo of bitter chocolate.
