Item Description
One-of-a-kind large sterling hoop earrings that make a dramatic statement. The thick silver wire was hammered to create flattened faceted diamond shapes along the full length of the hoop that catch and reflect the light. They are finished with sterling silver hinge closures that snap down securely into a v-shaped wire soldered to the back of the hoop. They have been polished to a high shine, then sealed with jeweler's wax to retard tarnish.
Dimensions: approximately 1.75" (4.5 cm) diameter.
Artist Bio: Amelia Hard lives and works in Portland, Oregon, where she draws inspiration for her jewelry from the various forms of natural beauty surrounding her. A lifelong animal lover, she learned about Wildlife SOS in the late 1990s during their campaign to eradicate the cruel tradition of "dancing bears" in India and immediately became an active supporter. She has continued to support Wildlife SOS ever since and is proud to be a member of the Freedom Team as a monthly donor.
Artist’s Statement: "After a lifetime of collecting and wearing artist-made jewelry, I am thrilled to have now acquired the skills to fabricate jewelry myself. My one-person studio, artist's hand studio, is where I enjoy continually exploring new techniques and creating distinctive jewelry in sterling silver, brass, copper, and aluminum. Rather than creating a line of jewelry, I prefer to follow the inspirations of the moment and share those with you."
