Item Description

This auction item consists of 3 prints by artist Kathleen Johnson:

The Key to Freedom "There are many factors in rescuing an animal. From the tireless volunteers to one person donating $5, to the selfless wisdom of decision-makers to do the right thing. Each of us holds a different key and together, we are making a difference."
Size: 12 x 12" print.

Safe Now "My daughter suggested I paint an elephant's eye. I found a beautiful photo taken by Lek, Founder of Elephant Nature Park in Thailand.  The hand upon the elephant's face represents how we all wish we could provide comfort and reassurance to these intelligent animals and this is meant to catch the moment a kind soul is able to say to this one elephant ... you're safe now."
Size: 11-1/2 x 11-1/2" print.

Lucy and Her Friend "I painted the original for a LEAP online event some time ago. I think of Lucy (a lone Asian elephant in Edmonton, Alberta) and how she must dream of a friend. The images are based on one photo of Lucy but her left and right are reversed ... so that she would have a friend."
Size: 9-1/2 x 7-1/2" print.

Artist Bio: Kathleen Johnson lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with her beautiful daughter and their rescued dog and cats. Donating art to support animal rescue organizations is one of Kathleen's greatest motivations for picking up a paint brush.  She works primarily with acrylics as they allow for lots of experimentation with colours.

From the Artist: "I need a meaningful reason to be moved to paint, then it's hard to stop!  If you have one of my paintings or prints, you can be sure it's full of hope and inspiration, with a story that brought it into existence.

"I am so grateful for organizations like Wildlife SOS who are tirelessly rescuing wild animals from lives of pain and indignity.  I was fortunate to meet Kartick Satyanarayan and Geeta Seshamani in Calgary at a conference. I will never forget Kartick's speech, which included the colourful story of the team's first elephant rescue.

"Wildlife SOS, thank you for all that you do.  Hopefully my prints will help support your efforts.  To the donors who purchase these prints, thank you for your generosity!  I sincerely hope these pieces bring messages of hope to your home.  For there is much hope to be had!"
