Creation Process: The 4th graders created a simple but beautiful collective piece with their individual stamp of love. Students painted the word "love" in 5in squares onto a collective wood panel with each child giving their perspective on love using the same technique applied to their individual project. Students were encouraged to divide their paper square into as many shapes as letters in their first name. Then, they discovered a way to draw the letters of their name into the shapes. Some students chose to use a ruler to keep the sides straight. Finally, students were challenged to continue dividing their paper square into more shapes, ultimately painting each shape in with colors they mixed using acrylic paint. The collective wood panel called on the students to mix a warm color palette.
Additional details: framed, approximately 16in x 20in.
