Item Description
After a democratic process to select the type of art to be created, the image portrayed, and the medium used, 7th Graders created this stunning colored-pencil rendition of the Boston skyline at night. First, students used the classroom projector to enlarge the image and trace it onto a piece of paper. The pencil image was then cut into 18 smaller rectangles. Using a "color block" style, each student colored one (or more) small rectangular piece of the larger image. Some students tried to replicate the actual colors while others used a more abstract approach. The result is a dynamic depiction of a scene that is familiar to us all. Framed dimensions are 36" wide x 24" high. You might not own Van Gogh's Starry Night, but who care when you can have the grade 7 rendition of Boston at night. Glorious and splendid.
Value: There aren't enough adjectives.
