Item Description

One-week stay in a recently remodeled cabin, beautifully situated on Bow Lake in Strafford, New Hampshire.  Bow Lake is the 11th largest lake in New Hampshire, roughly two hours south of Mt. Washington and half an hour from the seacoast.

The cabin accommodates 7 featuring two bedrooms with additional sleeping on the front porch and sofa bed. One bedroom and the porch both have full-size beds, there is a set of bunkbeds in bedroom number two, and the pull-out couch is best suited for a single.  While there is a small washer and dryer in the bathroom for your convenience, guests are expected to bring their own linens and towels. A well–appointed, modern kitchen is also supported by an outdoor gas grill.  The beautiful farm table easily accommodates 12. There is also a picnic table at the waterfront, perfect for lunch and early dinner on a crisp fall day.

On the waterfront, a 30-foot dock is available for your use to tether your boats or for your lawn chair and morning coffee. The lake is home to several loon families and bald eagle families. The loons will lull you to sleep at night and the eagles provide an incredible backdrop across the sky during the day.

Nearby Blue Job and Parker Mountains offer spectacular hiking and vistas. Cyclists enjoy circumnavigating the lake, a 10-mile trip complete with enough hills and valleys to challenge both novice and professional.

Enjoy Ogunquit, Maine, an historic beach town just 60 minutes away. The Ogunquit Playhouse, an all-equity theatre, runs a fabulous season of Broadway shows. Strafford is also convenient to outlet shopping in Kittery Maine, a mere 35 minutes.  A favorite of many guests is a ride up the Cog Railway to the summit of Mt. Washington, a gorgeous two-hour drive and a memorable journey on one of America’s most historic railways.  Historic Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, New England’s oldest “resort town”, is an easy hour North.

Local apple orchards attract tourists and locals alike. September is also a month full of local, agricultural fairs.  Ox pulls and pig scrambles have not changed since the turn of the last century.

While the woodstove is the primary source of heat, the camp also has a gas furnace, backup generator, and is fully winterized.

While Wi-Fi, and cable TV are available, we encourage you to “unplug”. Peruse the extensive book collection, turn on an endless pot of coffee, and feed your soul during one of the most beautiful months in New Hampshire, September.

Pets and in-laws always welcome!
