The Academy of Fretted Instruments has donated this package of 24 one hour private lessons, either virtually or inperson.

The package is for: 2 bi-weekly for lyr

 or 4 lessons per month for 6 months 

or 2 lessons a week for 3 months

The Academy of Fretted Instruments was established in 2005 on Water Street and is now in Northwoods Mall.

The Academy of Fretted Instruments offers private & group music instruction on guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, bass (... and piano). Lessons are by appointment only - call 309-676-3738 for information.

In spite of many industries experiencing a negative impact due to the pandemic, local guitar retail stores reported record sales in 2020 in spite of the shutdown.  So, if you were one of those who went out and got yourself a new guitar, why not try something new this year with (24) one-hour private lessons at the Academy of Fretted Instruments.  Now located in Northwoods Mall and commonly referred to as A.o.F.I or “The Academy”, instructor and owner, David McDonald, originally established on Peoria’s Water St. in the Riverfront Arts Center in 2005.  His focus is in offering a place where people can study the instruments commonly not taught in public and private schools’ marching band and orchestral programs, such as - the guitar, mandolin, banjo and ukulele.  Former students have gone on to become a contestant on American Idol; join a nationally touring contemporary Christian band; even receive Peoria Magazine’s Best Emerging Artist honor ... whom you might even be familiar with as they’ve been featured on WTVP’s State & Water - Cami Proctor and Josh Sweeney of the Blank Stairs - their formative years were spent at the Academy of Fretted Instruments.  Of course during these uncertain times, these lessons can be taking in person or remotely/virtually.  So, don’t fret - it’s time learn the skill that heals and stays a lifetime with the Academy of Fretted Instruments on the WTVP Auction’s Big Board.
