Dave cuts two pieces of 3 millimeter glass he has cut and arranged and kiln fires them, which fuses all pieces together into one solid piece of glass. Then the second kiln fire, the piece of glass gets placed over a plaster mold and they “slump” around the mold. Each firing takes about 8 hours to heat up and then cool down.
Artist, David Morrison lives in Dutchess County NY. He is a consummate creator! His latest creations are in glass. David first worked in glass under the tutelage of Walter Zimmerman at Urban Glass in Brooklyn NY. He also took some lessons at Hudson Beach Glass in Beacon NY. While he loved “blowing glass” he needed to find a way to work with the medium at home. He took a class in bead work at Hudson Beach Glass and has been working and experimenting with glass for several years. David’s next vision was to turn his fine art work into glass. Working with powdered glass he has recreated photography and his original artwork. Besides glass, David works in wood, pen and ink, acrylics and photography. He has shown his work in a gallery in NYC, Grand Central Station, The Artistry in Milford, Pa. and the Mahopac and Warner Libraries. Currently he is exhibiting in ”Images Art Gallery” in Briarcliff. His wood sculpture entitled Pieta won second place in the juried Pocantico Hills Women’s Club Show and he has received several “Honorable Mentions”.
