Artwork Title: Hospital Point

All information was provided by the artist in their own words.
Materials: "Hyper Striper" artwork is about 3 ft. wide x 1 ft. tall and made of .5 in. Versatex (PVC). Acrylic paint.
Description: My Hyper Striper, Hospital Point, is a view of Beverly's Hospital Point lighthouse from afar. I feel that this area is a gorgeous spot with lots to look at; The surrounding trees compliment the ocean beautifully. The wall of rocks are like a barrier around the lighthouse; guarding it but at the same time lifting it up for everyone to see. The landscape is naturally colorful, and it feels almost rainbow if we look closely. The ocean, rocks and sky seem to have a life of their own that we can watch in blissful silence, listening to the sounds of the waves hit the rocks. On the back of the fish, I have created an underwater scene to show some of that other world beneath the ocean. Similar things go on beneath the ocean's surface; the water is like a sky and the ocean plants are like the trees. More life exists there; mysterious, colorful creatures flying just beneath the water's surface. There is life above us, right in front of us and below us happening all the time. Very few times in our life are we going to stop, breath, and realize this.
About the Artist: I am a junior at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. I am an illustration major who especially enjoys painting. My favorite things to paint are landscapes, animals and people. I love to capture my feelings using a paint brush and make swift brush strokes that help me show the excitement I feel. I love to paint because it makes me feel like I'm a part of whatever I'm painting. I look at the water until I've realized what colors and shapes I see. Then I know exactly what the water is, and I know how to make the water. I become one with the water as I move my hand to make big strokes that match the moving waves. I love becoming a part of our world, and I love learning about our world. I love to travel and learn new things, and I have a lot of interest in psychology. I hope to become an art therapist in the future.
