Materials: "Hyper Striper" artwork is about 3 ft. wide x 1 ft. tall and made of .5 in. Versatex (PVC). Driftwood, beach stones, beach glass.
Description: My Hyper Striper is named, Old Blue Eyes. It is a creation of myself and my two granddaughters, Anna Rauseo and Emily Rodriguez. We love walking the beaches collecting beach glass, driftwood, beach stones and shells and then using our imagination to create some unique driftwood collages. I am so lucky that my granddaughters like to spend time with Popi Honan. I hope it is something they will always treasure and someday in the future, they will share the experiences with their own grandchildren.
About the Artist: Richard Honan is a local artisan who organizes workshops, creating beach glass mosaics, driftwood collages and oil pastel drawing on the beaches of Winthrop, Massachusetts. Richards artwork is motivated by the connection he feels to living by the ocean and maintaining its beauty. Richard wants his viewers to adjust the way they think of ordinary objects, he wants them to walk the beach and be inspired to create their own artwork. Art brings people together. Richard hopes his art initiates conversations about what constitutes as art, our impact on the environment and about appreciating nature.
