Item Description
Framed, authenticated woodblock print of the black and white key block to Mitsuke on the Tokaido, the 28th of the 53 Stations of the Tokaido ukiyo-e prints. The item is in fair condition, with some foxing (browning) along a prevoius fold.
The collection of which which this is one element established Hiroshige (famous for the woodblock of the great wave) as the most prominent and successful printmaker of the Tokugawa era in 19th-Century Japan.
