Item Description

The wines are:

a.      2004 Ceretto Barolo Bricco Rocche is rated 92, with these notes: “The estate’s 2004 Barolo Bricco Rocche reveals an expansive, generous personality. Macerated cherries, spices, vanilla, tar and smoke develop as this pretty, sumptuous wine opens in the glass. Silky tannins and a resonating note of sweetness from the oak carry through to the long finish. The Bricco Rocche still sees 100% new oak but Ceretto is contemplating a shorter aging regime. The 2005, which had just been taken out of oak at the time of my visit, was fresher than the 2004 and seemed to benefit from less time in barrel. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.”

2010 Pinino Brunello di Montalcino is rated 93, with these notes: “Pinino's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino sees fruit sourced from the northern half of the appellation near the Montosoli single-vineyard. The wine opens to medium consistency and a pretty ruby color with dark garnet hues. It takes a few minutes to start its engines, but once it does it operates with a slow, steady pace that promises longevity over immediacy. This cellar-worthy Brunello should continue its evolution over the next ten years. The tannins are tight, but they already deliver attractive silkiness on the long finish. This promises to be a very enjoyable wine after 2017.”
