Item Description
Digital Photography
by Janean Ray
From those who frequent the Summit County Metro parks to former Norton High school track students, this image is known by many. Silver Creek Metro Park has a section of pines that seems to take you to a place of tranquility, peace and quiet, and a cool comforting respit on a hot summer day. The pines seem to wrap their branches around you in a calming hug. You feel the need to just stop and take in the beauty, with the soft sound of the wind passing through the tops of the pines above you. You catch yourself whispering, not wanting to disturb the silence. This iconic image, for those familliar with this park, is at the exit of the pines walking back into the hot sun and open trail. Other metro parks have their bridges, waterfalls, or rock formations... Silver Creek has the Pines. Take a walk and experience the "sounds of silence" for yourself.
Artist Biography: Janean Ray
Janean is a self-taught photographer and genealogist. She has been an office manager for 32 years in the legal community. Janean took up photography on a serious level after she quit smoking in 2010 and began walking the towpaths. Her goal was to someday let her artwork "work" for her. To that end, she opened her own studio at Summit Artspace in Feb. 2021. As Janean tell people; "I capture moments, I don't make them.” Janean loves candid photography of people, and to capture details and unusual things that most people walk by. She photographs everything from A-Z and wants her work to be natural and inspire others to see the beauty around them
