Item Description

Digital Photo Printed on Stainless Steal

by Gary E. Krueger

As an artist, I am a modernist in my approach to creating. My goal is, through hard work, to produce works of art that enrich, reflect, and tell a story about the subject or an idea. These stories can come from anywhere, from portraits of the working class to sculptures made from found objects. My goal is the same. To create art that sparks a reaction from the viewer. Whether it be one of wonder or disgust is not my concern. I am only concerned with the truth and interpreting it to the viewer how it presents itself. It is how I translate what I see into my work. By remaining focused on what each piece has to say during the creation, the process is my only concern. If I do my job right, the viewer will be left with a lasting impression that my work has made.

Artist Biography: Gary E. Krueger

Gary’s love of the arts started early with his mother and father. Both working-class backgrounds and occupations had little time for the arts but saw a creative spark in their only child and chose to nurture it. His father gifted him with his talent for photography, and his mother, with her love of culture, showed Gary that there was more to life than what lay before him. As a boy, Gary decided to have a career in photography and honed his talents with his family's Kodak Hawk Eye Brownie. For his 18th birthday, he received a 35mm Canon AE1 Program camera and two lenses. It was his first real camera, and with it he began to study the creative process through the photographic process seriously. Gary’s formal education in the Arts took place at The University of Akron, where he graduated with a BFA in Fine Art Photography. He is also interested in journalism and pursued a freelance career for 14 years, publishing papers in Florida and the Akron Beacon Journal, where he covered news and sports photography. During this time, Gary received an internship from the Akron Aeros AA Base Ball team and a freelance contract with the University of Akron's athletic department. Over the past several years, he has gained success as a Fine Art Photographer with portraits that look at the human condition earning a Jurors Choice award from the Fava Art Gallery six-state juried show in 2011.
