Item Description
Title: 35 years
Artist: Cindi Slaughter
Mixed media: Oil Sharpies & cut paper
Dimensions: 13” x 17” framed
Artist Commentary:
This piece was done after talking with friends that I've known for 35 years. I was reflecting on how life has taken us all here and there, like a doodling line on a page, with moments of connection, joy, grief, celebration, distance, hardship, and love all along the way. From the 10,000 foot perspective, it all seems to come together to create a harmonious, beautiful work of art.
Artist Information:
Cindi Slaughter is a collage and mixed media artist based in Nashville, TN. In 2019, she started a series of abstract pieces that she terms, Doodle Art. She describes the intent of these pieces as follows: “Line can represent the unpredictable path that life brings us - all the things that we cannot control. As it winds, twists, and turns, moments are created along the way that can be filled with beautiful music, vibrant color, joy, complexity, peace, laughter, grief, love, or even a darkness that we'd rather not know. Unpredictability, choice, and intentionality can all work together to create a harmonious work of art. May we all step back every so often to see the beauty of the whole rather than staying focused on only one or two parts.”
Upcoming exhibits:
August 2021: Sig Held Gallery at Gordon Jewish Community Center, Nashville, TN
