Item Description
This collage, "just sit," is one of two donated by artist Carl Lennartson. It is meant to remind the viewer on a daily basis of a particular Buddhist principle and philosophy.
The character is Chinese for "sit" (zuo). It depicts two small figures sitting on the earth. As Carl says, "In this representation, those two figures are much smaller than in the traditional character; this, in turn, made the earth symbol appear bigger. So in relation to the earth, the human scale is de-emphasized."
Since the piece is intended to remind the viewer to "just sit", Lennartson suggests the winning bidder place the piece in their meditation space, or perhaps in a corner of a room.
It may be hung on a wall, preferably at eye level, or, since the frame is substantial, placed free-standing on an altar. Furthermore, the collage provides the eye and mind with a degree of tranquility and emptiness. This piece will come with a hook for hanging and directions for proper care.
