Item Description
Led by Mark Robinson, Executive Director of the Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, Inc., and Amy Henderson, Executive Director of Brewster Conservation Trust, participants will explore the woods of Brewster.
The walk will begin on the Eddy Sister’s Trail, which encompasses old cranberry bogs. Along the way, they will hear about the history of the land once used as planting fields for the Native Saquatucket people and where several innovations in commercial cranberrying were pioneered. The walk continues through meadows of Joe Pye weed before walking across the street to the Eddy Bay Trail, which culminates in a beautiful view of Cape Cod Bay. Before starting along the trail, participants will hear the story of the 1896 murder-suicide that startled the quiet Brewster community!
Hike is approximately two miles and takes about 90 minutes.
Group size capped at 15. Date and time to be mutually arranged by the winning bidder and Amy Henderson and Mark Robinson. Must be scheduled between September and December 2021.
