Item Description
Encaustic, Mixed Media, 36 x 36 Inches, Michael Hayden 2018
While working as a decorative artist in The Bay Area, Michael was introduced to a method of painting using melted beeswax mixed with pigment and resin. Originated by the Greeks in 4BC, this method of painting known as Encaustic gets its name from the word “enkaustikos” which means “to heat” or “to burn”.
Michael’s transition into fine art began when he started using Encaustic in combination with materials including found objects to create his signature style of original artworks. Today, Michael Hayden makes his home in Los Angeles, California. His studio is located in Playa Del Rey close to the beach that provides inspiration for many of his paintings. Most recently, his work gained International exposure when he was featured on the premiere episode of HGTV’s Selling LA, “Motivated Sellers- The Artist”.
