Item Description
Grower Fred Peterson has been growing grapes and making Peterson wines in California for the last quarter century. Fred's son, Jamie, literally grew up in the winery, shadowing his father and learning the craft from a very young age. Fred, who now focuses on growing, has handed the winemaking over to Jamie who, for the last several vintages, has been crafting one remarkable and delicious Peterson wine after another.
Here are the auction items:
Magnum 2010 Bradford Mountain Vineyard Syrah (only 60 were made). An explosion of aromas rushes out of the glass to greet the nose. Blackberry preserve, plum, black cherry, black currant and grilled fig, meld with dark spice box, dried fall leaves, twigs, baker's chocolate, black licorice, slate mineral and black pepper. Mmmmm-mmmmmmm juicy! Flavors spill onto the palate, driving dark flavors of blackberry, plum preserve, grilled black cherry, spice box, leather, espresso bean, baker’ chocolate, clay earth, dried herbs and black pepper.
Magnum 2013 Dry Creek Vly Il Granaio Sangiovese (only 80 were made). Il Granaio Sangiovese began with the 2000 vintage when Jamie decided to create a Sangiovese blend juicy, spicy and exotic enough for the Super Tuscan moniker (Sangiovese blended with non-traditional varieties). The wine quickly developed a following, and Peterson has produced the Il Granaio Sangiovese every vintage since.
For the 2013 Il Granaio, the winery combined 25% Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard Bordeaux varietals —Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot—with 75% Sangiovese from the Teldeschi Vineyard, neighbors to the north of the winery, to achieve the blend.
Item Special Note
Wine can be collected from the station in Rohnert Park by appointment starting Thursday September 30, 2021.
Can also be shipped at the bidder's expense within California only.
