Item Description
After this rare bird appeared in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, this beautiful painting of the Northern Hawk Owl was done by Pennsylvania artist Michael McNelly. He volunteered to do this painting for the cover of Volume 5, No. 1 in the January-March 1991 issue of Pennsylvania Birds. This framed print (19.5 X 19.5") is signed and numbered: 105/500. The Northern Hawk Owl records in PA are few, and this constituted the first 'documented' record the twentieth century. A copy of the article is included with the print.
Michael McNelly has accumulated an impressive collection of awards and ribbons, such as the Award of Excellence given by the Academy of Natural Science Wildlife Art Expo. His work can be found in many private collections throughout the United States, including the Raptor Trust and The University of Pennsylvania.
