Item Description
William Shakespeare's play The Tempest was most likely written between 1610-1611. Surprisingly, the play has been produced on Broadway only five times. Sir Patrick Stewart brought the role of Prospero to the Broadhurst Theatre in 1995, the most recent revival. The play, which earned four Drama Desk Award nominations, including Best Revival of a Play and Best Actor in a Play for Stewart, ran for 70 performances.
This sketch by legendary artist Al Hirschfeld brilliantly captures Stewart's poised interpretation of Prospero. The sketch was first published in the The New York Times on Sunday, July 16, 1995.
This giclée, part of an extremely limited edition, is printed on 15" x 18" hot press paper and has been generously autographed by Stewart. The edition is numbered, includes the official Hirschfeld Foundation embossed seal and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity directly from the Al Hirschfeld Foundation.
