Item Description
Playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner's most famous work, Angels in America, is the Pulitzer Prize-winning piece that defined a generation of gay men in Reagan-era America. It gave a voice to the thousands of people who died during the earliest years of the AIDS pandemic and exposed the silence and hypocrisy many faced. The first of the two plays, Part 1: Millennium Approaches, took home four Tony Awards including Best Play in 1993. Part 2: Perestroika earned another three wins the next year. When the plays were revived and performed in repertory in 2018, they earned an additional three Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play. Kushner was also nominated for Tony Awards in 2003 for the book and score of Caroline, or Change, and worked extensively on updates for the upcoming film adaptation of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg.
You will have the opportunity to meet virtually with Kushner and take home signed copies of Angels in America Part 1: Millennium Approaches and Part 2: Perestroika. Learn about what inspired Kushner to write this piece that has touched the hearts of so many and sheds a light on this incredibly troublesome time in history.
This package includes:
- A 20-minute virtual meeting with award-winning playwright Tony Kushner on a mutually agreed upon date
- Signed copies of Angels in America Part 1: Millennium Approaches and Part 2: Perestroika
