Item Description

From the Kalahari region of South Africa come these lovely cushion covers, showcasing the creativity of the KhoiSan people (Settler Europeans called them Hottentots and Bushmen).

  • Individually crafted, one cushion features Elephant, the other Guinea Fowl.
  • The print repeats on the reverse side
  • From the Bethesda Arts Centre in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
  • Dimensions in inches: 15 x 15.
  • The reverse side has an opening and inside fold to hold the cushion.      

ABOUT THE NIEU BETHESDA ART CENTRE:

Situated in the Eastern Cape Province, the centre showcases the work of 20 local artists, all descended from the KhoiSan people, KhoiSan spiritual beliefs being a major theme of the work they create. A holistic approach to creativity tackles social issues like poverty and abuse through visual and performance arts, while the artists are given the opportunity to be involved with the financial and administrative sides of running the Art Centre.
