Item Description
Here is a beautiful porcelain figurine of two young children dressed in snowsuits on a sled, with one of the children wearing a bright red knit scarf. The children are made from unglazed biscuit porcelain (or bisque), and their snowsuits are covered in small pieces of crushed bisque, giving the appearance of fallen snowflakes. The figurine is about 4.75 inches long by 2.25 inches wide by 3 inches tall.
Snowbabies were first manufactured in Germany in the 1890's. With the onset of World War I, production stopped. In the United States in the late 1980's, a new line of Snowbabies was started by the American company Department 56, which continues to produce these sweet figurines to the present time. Many people collect these figurines and create winter scenes on their mantels or as centerpieces on their tables with these adorable Snowbabies.
