Item Description

This gorgeous Christmas-red Holiday Table Runner was provided through SERRV International. The Table Runner features fine embroidery, accented with the bird of peace in each corner, and has tiny mirrorwork details. It measures 60 inches long by 12.75 inches wide.

The Table Runner was woven in Ahmedabad, India. Through SERRV, women in Ahmedabad have the opportunity for steady employment and fair wages for their fine embroidery handcrafts. Through sales of their products by SERRV, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian women -- many who are the sole breadwinners in their families -- receive education, fair wages, health programs, and savings and loan programs. They can also send their children to school to avoid child labor.

SERRV was one of the first fair trade organizations worldwide, combating global poverty through fair and ethical trade. In 24 countries across the globe, SERRV works to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year by selling their beautiful handcrafts. SERRV works to do the following:

  • Create employment for all artisans, regardless of gender, race, or religion, while making sure the children of artisans stay in school for a brighter future
  • Pay fair wages in advance so artisans can support themselves and their families while they work
  • Encourage sustainable practices through the use of recycled materials in handcrafts and in the shipping process
  • Support community development through loans and donations to help build workshops, fund healthcare and education initiatives, and recover from natural disasters
  • Preserve traditional crafting techniques.
