Item Description
This set of three nature classics and a new look at the fox arrives in a sturdy and beautiful canvas bag with a $25 gift certificate to allow you to complete the set with your own selection from Poet's Corner Book Shop. This little shop holds an ample selection of books, calendars, puzzles, vintage volumes and gifts. It's nestled in the heart of Duncan's Mills, an historic Russian River village with boutique shops, fine art galleries, antiques, artisan wines, unique furnishings, fashionable clothing and gourmet foods.
The collection includes:
The 150th Anniversary edition of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, poems that celebrate life and humanity, and praise nature and the individual's role in it;
Jack London's The Call of the Wild, the tale of a perserverance and loyalty, that comes in a suede-like custom cover with metallic foiling and a ribbon marker;
The Last of the Mohicans, James Pennimore Cooper's tale of a passionate, forbidden romance between Uncas, a young Mohican, and Cora, the daughter of a British Colonel, also in the Paper Mill Press cover with a ribbon marker; and
The contemporary story of animals learning to live among humans, The Hidden World of the Fox, by Adele Brand.
- “By turns lyrical, salty, funny and scholarly. … The sight of foxes can lift [Brand’s] prose into poetry. … [An] ode to this familiar yet mysterious creature.” -- New York Times Book Review
- “A lovely little book. Quietly lyrical, often funny. [An] ideal stocking filler.” -- Sunday Times (London)
- “Beautifully written. … Eminent British mammal ecologist Brand pens a tribute to the red fox.” -- Library Journal
