Connie Freid is an award-winning local artist who's had numerous exhibits in the tri-state area. Her work is often desicribed as a psychological portrait.
Connie's Bio:
Twenty years ago, following a career in economic development, Connie decided to pursue her life-long interest in art. As a child, growing up in Philadelphia, her favorite activities included drawing and making collages, mainly of people from other countries. She took art lessons at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art before winning a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania where she earned a B.S. After working in public relations for several years, she married and, in short order, had three children. While they were in school, she got an MBA.
Connie worked in both the private and public sector for many years, but taking classes at the Westchester County Workshop made her realize that her true passion was art. Classes at SUNY Purchase, Silvermine Guild of Art and the International Center of Photography gave her new skills and direction.
Connie has had five solo shows Vixens or Victims at the Harrison Library, (Harrison NY), The Feminine Mystique, Redux at Sarah Lawrence College (Bronxville, NY), Inspirations at the Rye Free Reading Room (Rye NY), Dreams and Destinies at the Harrison Library and Sounds of Silence at the Riverdale Temple (Bronx NY). She was one of two featured artists in Face to Face at Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery, Iona College Art Center.
In 2019, Connie won both First and Second Place awards for painting at the New Rochelle Art Associaton's 104th Open Juried show. In 2018, she won First Place in the Association's 103rd Open Juried Show as well as Jerry's Artarama award at the Greenwich Art Society's Flinn exhibit. In 2013, she received a third place award from the Art Society of Old Greenwich.
