Tasting Notes

2018 Barbareno Syrah Petite Sirah
A blend of 78% Syrah & 22% Petite Sirah and with dark, ruby red color, this wine jumps from the glass with lifted red berry fruits and rose, followed by black bramble fruit aromas, smoke, vanilla bean, green herbs, and a touch of cigar box.  The attack is fresh concentrated black fruit and spice, with a beautifully plush mid-palate of dark cherry, and a finish of dark powder tannins.  Aged for 22 months in a combination of concrete tank, barrique and 400 liter puncheon.

2019 Malvasia Bianca
This wine is aromatically exuberant.  It pushes from the glass with distinct scents of honeysuckle, lychee, a hint of kiwi, and soft yellow/green tones reminiscent of dandelion blossom.  The palate is both supple and lively, with a slight prickle of CO2 and a faintly waxy texture.  It finishes with a clean touch of lemon curd acidity.  Fermented and aged with stainless steel for 6 months.

2017 Petite Sirah

The 2017 Petite Sirah is dark and inviting.  It is lifted from the glass with aromas of brandied cherries, raspberry, clove, dried orange peel, and a touch of wintergreen. The wine has great presence on the palate.  Blackberry and cocoa, cherry liqueur and vanilla bean.  The tannins are dense and fine, layering in black fruits and baking spices with a rich and almost savory character.  The finish is fresh and perfumed.  Fermented in stainless steel and aged 20 months in a new and neutral french oak.
