Item Description

Jarvis Napa Valley Estate Trio: 2018 Finch Hollow Chardonnay, 2015 "Lake William" Red Blend + 2015 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon - 3 Bottles

Jarvis Estate 2018 Finch Hollow Chardonnay, 1 Bottle: This unique Chardonnay features grapes from a special plot in our vineyard called Finch Hollow, which is characterized by particularly shallow soil with exceptional drainage. It was this portion of our vineyards most frequented by Finch Hollow's birds before we started netting all vineyards. The distinct terroir of this site offers intense tropical fruit notes in the grapes and we began bottling this section of the vineyard separately beginning with the 2000 vintage.

Fermented in new French oak and sur-lie aged for 11 months with weekly stirring, the resulting wine is a beautiful expression of a varietally true Chardonnay. White flowers and honeysuckle spring from the glass while ripe pear, toasty brioche, and mineral undertones layer upon the palate. The textured mouthfeel remains rich and elegant through a long and graceful finish.

Jarvis Estate 2015 "Lake William" Napa Valley Red Blend, 1 Bottle: In 1993, one dark night during fermentation pumpovers, William Jarvis accidentally pumped a third of a tank of Cabernet Franc into a tank of Cabernet Sauvignon. Both he and our winemaker consultant Dimitri Tchelistcheff were distraught until the fermentation was complete and Dimitri declared the wine “not that bad”. The accidental blend, something akin to a Bordeaux Blend was an immediate hit with the winery guests and since 1996, Lake William has been made yearly with that same blend of red grapes always coming from the vineyards cooled by the breezes off Lake William.

Red Blend: Cabernet Franc 40%, Cabernet Sauvignon 29%, Merlot 29% & Petit Verdot 2%

The 2015 Lake William reflects the totality of its provenance and the promise our founder first saw when walking the property. Each facet combines to provide a harmonic balance of freshness, energy, and tannin. Warming notes of graphite, wet stone, and spice melodiously integrate with dark fig, blackberry, and dark chocolate on the palate. The density of fruit provides generous weight that leads to a long and vibrant finish.

Jarvis Estate 2015 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our long-time consultant, feels that the designation of “Reserve” should only be given to wines that are truly special. Only two out of our last five vintages had Reserve wine! Winemaker Scott Morrison considers each vintage of Jarvis Cabernet Sauvignon to see which are those near-perfect wines to be labeled Reserve.

Our estate-grown, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is our flagship wine. With a minimum of 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels, it is released only after nearly five years of aging in our perfect cave conditions. A wine of superior balance, you can taste the care that this wine has received, making it ready to enjoy upon release.

Jarvis wines are all produced from estate vineyards, located high above the city of Napa, in the beautifully rugged mountains between Mt. George and Milliken Canyon at the southeastern end of the Napa Valley. The vineyards are planted in gently sloping meadows one thousand feet above the valley floor. As the cool maritime air passes over the Carneros flats and begins flowing into the valley, it falls about seven degrees in temperature for the thousand feet of vertical rise. As such, our vineyards tend to be cooler by several degrees than the famous Carneros region! These cooler temperatures allow a long “hang time,” which permits a long, slow fruit maturation for maximum flavor and concentration at harvest.
