Item Description

High-End Napa Reds: Jarvis Estate 2015 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon + Merryvale 2016 Chairman's Selection Red Wine - 2 Bottles

Jarvis Estate 2015 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our long time consultant, feels that the designation of “Reserve” should only be given to wines that are truly special. Only two out of our last five vintages had Reserve wine! Winemaker Scott Morrison considers each vintage of Jarvis Cabernet Sauvignon to see which are those near perfect wines to be labelled Reserve.

Our estate-grown, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is our flagship wine. With a minimum of 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels, it is released only after nearly five years of aging in our perfect cave conditions. A wine of superior balance, you can taste the care that this wine has received, making it ready to enjoy upon release.

Merryvale Vineyards 2016 Chairman's Selection Red Wine: Our Chairman’s Selection Red Wine is a Cabernet-based blend sourced from select hillside vineyards in Napa Valley. Every vintage, In 2016, the fruit was harvested in early October, double sorted upon arrival at the winery and fermented in a 5-ton tank. Native fermentation started after a 5-day cold soak and total time in tank went from 15 to 20 days with daily pump overs. Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel and the wine was racked every 6 months. The wine was aged for 22 months in 60% new French oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration.

The Chairman’s Selection showcases mountain vineyards and the incredible character that they produce - wines with intensity and power. On the nose the wine shows tones of plum, mocha, cacao, savory herbs and a touch of oak. The mouth is broad with a touch of acid starting on the front of the palate, then the sweetness shows through, further broadening the wine. Fairly weighty, but with great balance and softness at the same time. It shows incredible character without being heavy. With proper cellaring, this wine will drink beautifully for the next 10 to 15 years.

Jarvis wines are all produced from estate vineyards, located high above the city of Napa, in the beautifully rugged mountains between Mt. George and Milliken Canyon at the southeastern end of the Napa Valley. The vineyards are planted in gently sloping meadows one thousand feet above the valley floor. As the cool maritime air passes over the Carneros flats and begins flowing into the valley, it falls about seven degrees in temperature for the thousand feet of vertical rise. As such, our vineyards tend to be cooler by several degrees than the famous Carneros region! These cooler temperatures allow a long “hang time,” which permits a long, slow fruit maturation for maximum flavor and concentration at harvest. https://www.jarviswines.com

They are committed to preserving the winery's rich history without compromising their forward-looking plans. With acclaimed winemaker, Simon Faury, they have sharpened their focus on Bordeaux varieties, the wines for which Napa is most renowned.

Wines of distinction crafted in the heart of Napa Valley. Merryvale Vineyards makes wines that are quintessentially Napa Valley. www.merryvale.com
