Amici 1999 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: Amici Cellars (pronounced ah-ME-chee) is a family-owned winery nestled in the foothills of the Palisades, just outside Calistoga, Napa Valley, where we are dedicated to producing true-to-varietal wines from exceptional vineyard sources.

Working alongside our talented winemaking team led by Tony Biagi and Jesse Fox, together we bring decades of relationships with outstanding growers that, combined with their craftsmanship, result in elegant, balanced, expressive wines made to be enjoyed among friends.

Cakebread Cellars 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: An indicative blend of Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

“As a winery and as a family, we grow grapes, we make wine, we nurture a garden, we cook with the food we grow, and we count our blessings. This is what we do and we love it." – Jack Cakebread, co-founder

Nearly 50 years ago, our story started with a piece of a land, a family passionate about wine and a community of friends and partners who helped bring Cakebread Cellars to life. Since founding the winery in 1973, we have set out to create quality wines that pair best with good food and good company.

Carrefour Vineyards 2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: This wine is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 3% Petite Verdot. It has black cherry, berry, currant, cedar, spice, mint, chocolate and creamy tannins. The flavors linger on the palate with a suppleness and finesse. 496 cases produced.

Crane Brothers 2007 Napa Valley Crane Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: Crane Brothers Wine as the name of the winery suggests, is owned and operated by two brothers Michael and Rob Crane who are third generation natives to the Napa Valley. Both have many years experience of being home winemakers and in the mid 90’s purchased land in the Oak Knoll district and planted several varietals including Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. As they will tell you, they took the “long road” to becoming commercial winemakers and managing their own vineyards! Michael works in real estate and the Rob is a hospitality manager at Sterling Vineyards. Rob has grown up in and around the wine industry with his first winery job in the cellar at the old Christian Brothers Winery in 1970.

97 Points, Wine Spectator: Wonderfully exotic, with complex aromas of spice, cedar, currant, kirsch and blackberry that fold over to the rich, firm and full-bodied palate. Elegantly styled, layered and persistent. Simply a joy to drink.

Darioush 2000 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle: Darioush Winery is a California wine producer located off the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, and was established in 1997 by Darioush Khaledi. It is known as a "destination winery" in Napa for its dramatic Persian architecture, and produces a range of wines that repeatedly receive high scores in the press, particularly the flagship label, Darius II.

Darioush Khaledi was born and raised in Iran, where his father made wine as a hobby. He immigrated to the United States in the 1970s, and founded a successful grocery store chain called KV Mart. On his 20th wedding anniversary, he visited Napa Valley with his wife, where they tried California wines for the first time, and decided to buy land and start a winery.

Raymond 2006 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Bottle:

92 Points, Wine Enthusiast: "A beautiful Cabernet. Pretty tannic now, so if you drink it, decant and have with a rich oily meats and cheeses. But the heart of black cherries, and cassis, and the overall balance, enable this wine to develop ove the next 6-8 years." (06/09) The Raymond Reserve has been an outstanding wine for the last three vintages. The 2006 is bright and forward with lovely black and blue fruit, with great balance of fruit, oak and tannin. I found the tannins to be bright and lush and very approachable. This is a California Cab lover's wine."
