Wine Description from Maroon Wines:

From our estate vineyard in the Coombsville Appellation, a sweet spot for Cabernets. The wine is aged 30 months in French oak.

Our 2015 Maroon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from our home vineyard in the Coombsville District of Napa Valley. It is a little cooler in the southern end of the valley, and we benefit from this by being able to ripen the grapes slowly and evenly. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 30 months before bottling.

The wine has rich, alluring aromas of dark fruit and balanced oak. On the palate, the wine is bold, showing dark fruit flavors, nicely balanced with rich and creamy oak tones. The finish is long and lingering.

Sodaro Estate 2018, Coombsville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bottle Size: 750ml

Number of Bottles: 1 bottle

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Coombsville

Vineyard Notes: 2018 was a phenomenal year in the Coombsville AVA. Mild summer and fall temperatures led to our latest harvest ever, finishing up on November 4. Made with 100% Estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, it opens with blackcurrants, dark chocolate, scorched earth, and graphite aromas. The palate is full-bodied and rich, with the signature purity of the vintage and terrific depth. As Dunnuck says, “It’s certainly a serious, outstanding wine.” Coombsville’s reputation as the next great Napa Valley sub-appellation rests on thoughtfully crafted, premium gems like this one.

REDMON 2017 Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon

Redmon Wines is a small production family winery. We've been told our wines are among the best in the Napa Valley and we're so glad you have discovered us! We love making handcrafted, limited-production wines. Our hands do the work, not machines. Each Fall at harvest, we hand-sort the fruit from our vineyard early in the morning when the grapes are cool to the touch. We pick out raisins and any fruit that is imperfect. We do this by hand, and we do it twice!

Coombsville AVA: Immaculate Vineyard

Tucked in rolling hillsides, the small, two-acre Immaculate Vineyard in the Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley is home to cabernet sauvignon grapevines planted facing west, on a gentle slope against the easterly Vaca Range. The soil, comprised of ancient volcanic ash, sandy loam and rocks from the Vacas, allows for a perfect combination of moisture retention and drainage. Situated in the southeast corner of the Napa Valley, Coombsville is greatly influenced by the San Pablo Bay, resulting in foggier mornings and cooler days than other parts of Napa Valley to the north. This temperate weather allows for slower, more even ripening, giving the grapes a longer time to reach full physiological maturity at a graceful pace. The terroir of Coombsville is easily recognizable, imparting minerality and clean tannins to the Cabernet Sauvignon made here. Planted in 2000, the vineyard is laid out in concentrated rows, encouraging the vines to compete, resulting in concentrated fruit from hard-working vines. Sourcing grapes from the Immaculate Vineyard for the first time in 2018, the first vintage of Redmon Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon made its debut in 2020. Lisa has been excited to bring Coombsville to her collection and now has three distinct appellations from which to present the best of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Notes:

This Cabernet is alive with aromas, black and blue fruits such as black cherry, blackberry and wild blueberry lift from the glass along with hints of anise, tobacco, and faint floral notes. On the palate, the wine surprises with gentle tannins and a well-rounded mixture of cherry, plum, raspberry and black currant. The smooth mouthfeel has a subtle underlying minerality, spiced with hints of white pepper. In the cellar, the cabernet sauvignon ages for 21 months in French oak barrels, 85% of which are new, imparting soft tannins and integrated textures throughout the wine.
